Generally speaking we will follow the approach to Mishlei outlined by Saadia Gaon who views Mishlei as a guide for intelligent decision-making in everyday life with the goal of maximizing long-term pleasure and minimizing long-term pain. Mishlei 16:22 - How Fools Relate to the Fountainhead of Life

Synopsis: This evening (1/27/24), in our Monday Night Mishlei shiur, we learned a surprisingly difficult pasuk about what seems to be the bread and butter of Mishlei: how fools relate to intelligence and mussar. We came up with three approaches on our own, then learned Rabbeinu Yonah's (after not getting anywhere with Metzudas David). The pasuk ended up being relevant to everyone in more ways than usual, and left us with a useful metaphor which can help apply this idea to our lives.
